Oz
en Oisans is composed of 10 hamlets and a resort between 800 m
and 1350 m of altitude in the Eau d'Olle valley.
In 1874,
Mr Bayle, vicar of Oz-en-Oisans, climbed a virgin summit in the
Grandes Rousses massif, to which he gave his own name, Pic Bayle
(3465m).
That first ascent made Oz the starting point for ascents pic
Bayle and l'Etendard.
