Climbing at Lac Besson :
At an altitude of 2,300 m, the Lac Besson climbing site offers a spectacular setting in the heart of the Oisans region. Nestling above the lake, the cliffs offer a variety of routes on gneiss, suitable for climbers from beginner to advanced level (from 3 to 7a).
Divided into two sectors – ideal for beginners and advanced climbers alike – the site boasts top-quality equipment and exceptional views of the Alpine peaks.
Accessible in summer from Oz 3300 after a short approach walk, it’s the perfect place to combine sport, nature and altitude.
Natural site around the “Refuge de la Fare
A 100% vertical & natural adventure from Oz 3300
Located above Oz 3300, in the mineral world of the Grandes Rousses, facing the peaks of Belledonne, the Refuge de la Fare is a privileged base camp for cliff climbing and long routes at altitude. The setting is wild, mineral and luminous, with a breathtaking view of the surrounding lakes and glaciers. An authentic, unspoilt playground!
Access from Oz 3300
Comfortable option (in summer)
Start from Oz 3300 (1350 m).
Take the Alpette cable car to L’Alpette (≈2050 m).
From here, follow the signposted path to the Refuge de la Fare.
Allow 1h to 1h30 for the ascent on foot, on a well-marked path through alpine meadows and scree.
Remaining height gain: around +230 m

From Oz 3300 station, you can reach the refuge entirely on foot (around 3h to 3h30 depending on your pace), following the hiking route via the Alpette.

The Bernard Fabre climbing gym at Oz 3300 welcomes children and adults to climb all year round in a safe and friendly environment.
Routes suitable for all levels, with a range of bouldering areas and difficulty levels.
Introductory climbing sessions are available: the ideal place to discover or perfect your climbing skills, in addition to the natural sites of Lac Besson and La Fare.
