The following day, the 20th and penultimate stage promises to be the ABSOLUTE QUEEN STAGE. Starting in Bourg d'Oisans and covering 171 km, it will have a colossal positive vertical drop of 5,600 metres! On the program: the Col de la Croix de Fer (24 km at 5.2%), the Col du Télégraphe (11.9 km at 7.1%) and the Col du Galibier (17.7 km at 6.9%) - the roof of the 2026 Tour at 2,642m - before an unprecedented final ascent to Alpe d'Huez via the Col de Sarenne (12.8 km at 7.3%).
Never before has such a difficult stage been placed so late in the Tour. A "virgin" terrain for "BUILDING HISTORY described as "breathtaking" by the Tour director.
