The Grandes Rousses plateau at an altitude of 2,800 metres
700 metres higher up, you’ll find yourself immersed in a completely different atmosphere. The vivid ochre-coloured rocks of the Grandes Rousses massif will transport you to a lunar and poetic landscape. To the north, a series of young lakes formed by melting glaciers, giving them crystal-clear, turquoise waters. To the south, the vast expanse of Lac Blanc and views of Alpe d’Huez and the Parc des Ecrins. For the more adventurous, you can set off along the Pas de la Cochette trail, heading towards the Col du Couard and Vaujany. The Barbarate Glacier and Pic Bayle will watch over you from the top of their promontory, at an altitude of over 3,000 metres.
