Discover… the lake plateau
From Oz 3300, take the Alpette or Poutran cable car to reach the magnificent, unspoilt plateau of the Petits Rousses lakes. Once you reach an altitude of 2,000 metres, panoramic views unfold before you: the Belledonne range, and the Taillefer and Vercors massifs. By following the Lakes Loop trail, you’ll find yourself in the heart of a designated nature reserve. The trail takes you past five lakes: Lake Besson, Lake Blanc, Lake Noir, Lake Faucille and Lake Carrelet. Each offers different colours, sizes and depths. Take a moment to photograph Lac Noir, known for its mirror-like surface, which reflects all the beauty of the sky and the landscape.

Photographing… mountain flora and fauna
Hiking offers the chance to discover the flora and fauna of this subalpine landscape. Fish and small amphibians have made their home in the lakes. At the water’s edge, rhododendrons grow in small clumps, producing fragrant pink flowers; you’ll also find martagon lilies, wild orchids, glacier buttercups, spring gentians, thistles and European tansy… During your walk, you may hear the calls of marmots sheltering beneath the rocks; stay quiet and keep your eyes peeled for a chance to spot a few. You may also spot chamois leaping from rock to rock, maintaining perfect balance on what are otherwise steep cliffs… And don’t forget to look up to admire the flight of birds and birds of prey.
